Managing government’s mining concession, Muhammadiyah to form 2 companies

JAKARTA. Muhammadiyah Central Board, one of the major religion organisations in Indonesia, has formed two companies to manage mining concessions granted by the Indonesian government.

Muhadjir Effendy, Head of Muhammadiyah Central Board, said that one of the two companies will serve as a holding company with one other as the operating company. “We have now made a team,” he added.

Furthermore, Effency said that the operating company will have positions filled by several experts in mining field. In the future, this company, Effendy said, will involve several universities under Muhammadiyah.

Some of the universities are said to have conducted preliminary surveys, as a part of preparation initiated by Muhammadiyah in managing the mining concession.

For this phase, Muhammadiyah will also partner with some contractors. Then, the mining activities will kick off after the business plan has been devised well. (KR/ZH)
