Global venture funding slowed down in Q3 2024, mostly went to AI sector

JAKARTA. The amount of venture capital funding in the global market reached USD 66.5 billion in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, slowing down 16% quarter-to-quarter (qoq), or down 15% year-on-year (yoy).

According to the report of Crunchbase, the company that collects information regarding global venture investment, late-stage funding dominated with USD 31.6 billion in Q3 2024. Then, early-stage funding followed with USD 24.7 billion, angel-seed funding of USD 7.1 billion, and technology growth of USD 3.1 billion.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector reportedly absorbed the highest global venture funding in Q3 2024, accumulating investment of up to USD 18.9 billion, which are equal to 28% of total global funding.

The companies that secured the highest amount of global venture funding in Q3 2024 were Waymo, defence start-up Anduril Industries, AI research lab Safe SUperintelligende, legal-tech company Clio, and Groq. (KR/ZH)
