JAKARTA – Bersama Digital Data Centre (BDDC) held the Grand Opening of BDDC JST 1, its latest data centre in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, today (9/10).
After the topping-off process in November 2023 and inaugurated in July 2024, BDDC JST 1 is ready to operate in October 2024. This data centre is equipped with 8 floors with total racks of 1,008 and capacity of 5 MW.
According to Setyanto Hantoro, President Commissioner of BDDC, JST 1 is not designed only as a data centre, but also a digital hub for digital sector players and digital enablers by partnering with Indonesian Internet Service Provider (APJII).
“We collaborate with APJII to ensure that our data centre, JST 1, could become an ideal converging point for digital enablers in Indonesia, by creating IIX-JK2 (Indonesia Internet Exchange Jakarta 2),” Hantoro said during his opening speech of Grand Opening BDDC JST 1 today (9/10).
According to Hantoro, BDDC JST 1 is designed as an inner-city data centre that will reduce data traffic latency due to its close proximity to the economic centre that is Jakarta. It is worth mentioning that BDDC also has another semi-inner-city data centre in Daan Mogot, JBT 1.
BDDC also plans to increase JST 1 capacity up to 32 MW. “This is a long-term investment. 1 MW approximately takes up around USD 10-11 million,” said Hantoro on the same occasion.
In other words, the JST 1 establishment, optimised to its maximum capacity of 32 MW, will need investment of at least USD 320 million, or equal to IDR 5 trillion. (ZH)
