SEVP Digital Banking BSI Saut Parulian Saragih said that in order to become the best sharia bank, BSI needs to have the best mobile banking platform that is able to support integrated Islamic Ecosystem financial services and increase digital customer penetration during his session at FEKDi x KKI agenda at JCC Senayan Jakarta on Friday, August 2 2024.
Saut said that this opportunity is currently wide-open, considering the increasing public demand for sharia-based products and services. In addition, great support from the government to make sharia banking one of the main players in banking in the country, as well as the growth in the number of MSMEs and wealth management, are considered as major openings for BSI to continue to grow and develop.
As of June 2024, the number of BSI Mobile users will be 7.12 million customers or an annual growth of 33.9%. This proves that BSI Mobile is in demand and can answer the needs of a large number of customers. Of course BSI continues to innovate so that BSI Mobile can be the spearhead of transaction services for every customer, said Saut.
Saut added, until June 2024, as many as 97.9% of BSI customers had used BSI digital services to carry out financial transactions. The remaining 2.1% of customers still choose to make transactions at branch offices. Likewise, in terms of opening an account, as many as 94.4% of prospective customers opened an account online via BSI Mobile.
For digital transactions via QRIS, as of June 2024 BSI recorded an increase of 212% (YoY) with a total of 14.13 million transactions. Meanwhile, mosque QRIS transactions experienced an increase of 165% (YoY) with a total of 14.42 million transactions.
Digital transactions via the BI Fast channel also recorded an increase of 51% with 46.5 million transactions. Hajj Savings Transactions via BSI Mobile experienced an increase of 98% (YoY) with 26.7 million transactions. Lastly, BSI digital payments to institutions experienced an increase of 53% (YoY) with 3.4 million transactions.
Saut said that the Ziswaf feature on BSI Mobile is unique to BSI and differentiates it from other mobile banking. This feature is an advantage and is widely used by customers, both for paying zakat, infaq and alms, as well as qurban. Until June 2024, the volume of ZISWAF fund collection transactions at BSI grew by more than 19.3% (YoY).
BSI also encourages customers to set aside a little of their wealth to give charity by providing the option to do ZISWAF after every transaction on BSI Mobile. ZISWAF on BSI Mobile can be started with a nominal value of one thousand rupiah, said Saut.
Lastly, Saut guarantees data security and privacy for customers who use BSI Mobile. According to him, BSI has taken preventive steps to prevent data leaks, including implementing a system that complies with the Personal Data Protection Law, strengthening data management, and strengthening IT security.
